NASHVILLE, Tenn., January 22, 2014Safe Step Cares, the national program of giving created last year by Safe Step Walk-In Tub Company and its public relations agency of record DFPR, was honored with a Gold Award for communications excellence in the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) 2013 Magellan Awards. The program was also recognized as one of the Top 25 Communications Campaigns of 2013, finishing #15 overall out of nearly 400 finalists.

“This year’s initiative for Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co., ‘Safe Step Cares’, proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition,” said Christine Kennedy, LACP Managing Director. “Overall, we find the work to be outstanding. We congratulate the entire team at Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co. and DFPR for their caring program. We classify Safe Step Cares as being among the best communications programs of 2013.”

Nashville-based Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co. is one of the nation’s leading walk-in tub providers, known for quality, service and affordability. The company was recently named “Walk-in Tub of the Year 2013” by MySeniorSource.com and Walk-in-Tub-Reviews.com. Safe Step Cares, designed to benefit families, individuals and facilities in need of walk-in tubs based on need and circumstance, was cited as a differentiation point for the coveted Gold Award.

In 2013, Safe Step Cares considered numerous requests and honored several individuals and families with its state-of-the-art therapeutic tubs. Honorees included Tony Cato, a former quadriplegic injured by an uninsured drunk driver, David Scarbrough, who struggles with cerebral palsy, as well as Selena Yorke (a donation by Canadian Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co.) Jazmyne Harris and Amy and Emily Templeton, all of whom share a rare yet severely debilitating degenerative disorder called Friedreich’s Ataxia.

Safe Step Cares also awarded two tubs to Crestview Manor, a low-income assisted living facility, after it learned that its bathing conditions were in need of improvement. Safe Step also donated “Toilet Paper for Life” to Crestview Manor, when it heard its 60 residents were playing Bingo for toilet paper.

“Safe Step changes lives every day,” said Mike Duffer, president and founder of Safe Step Walk-In Tub Co. “Through Safe Step Cares, we’ve been pleased to provide those in need with the opportunity for safety, comfort and independence. We are pleased with the recognition but even more thrilled to change lives, one Safe Step at a time.”

“It is an honor and a privilege to work with such a caring company,” said DFPR president Derek Farley, whose agency helped implement the Safe Step Cares initiative. “From day one, they said, ‘let’s do the right thing and change lives.’ And that’s exactly what Safe Step Cares has done and will continue to do.”
